ased on an Ukrainian traditional song, this illumination depicts four XV° century scenes in which we see a maiden plucking a lily, then giving it to her groom on their wedding day.

The young man then goes to war, and we see the lily about to be trampled by his charging horse.

Finally, the lily is found blooming over a grave, upon which leans the shield of our unfortunate knight, and a young maiden is about to pluck it...
