his medieval heraldic dragon was inspired by an old stone carving.

The design is first painted onto the fabric using a copper base, and then covered with gold leaf.

Traditionally an imperial emblem, the figure of the dragon also represents the cycles of life, being associated to lightning, rain and fertility.
